In Azerbaijan, it is proposed to tighten administrative liability for participating in gambling.

The corresponding amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses were considered at a joint meeting of the Milli Majlis committees on legal policy and state building, as well as on labor and social policy.

As 1news.az reports citing APA, according to the draft amendments, citizens will face a fine of 3000 manats for participating in gambling. In addition to the monetary penalty, confiscation of gaming equipment, as well as funds or other property placed as a stake, is provided. Won funds, prizes, and any other income received as a result of the gambling game are also subject to seizure.

The bill provides for stricter measures against persons who repeatedly commit a similar offense. This refers to cases where the violation is recorded within one year after the entry into force of the decision on the application of an administrative penalty for the previous violation.

In such cases, the fine is proposed to be increased to 5000 manats. In addition, the provision on confiscation of gaming equipment, funds, property placed as a stake, as well as received winnings and other income remains in effect.

At the same time, the draft provides for the possibility of applying administrative arrest to violators for a period of up to fifteen days. Such a measure may be imposed taking into account the circumstances of the case and the personality of the offender.

The proposed changes are aimed at strengthening responsibility for participating in gambling and preventing repeated violations in this area.
