Armenian authorities want to change text of parliamentary oath under concept of 'Real Armenia'
In Armenia, they decided to edit the text of the parliamentary oath and adapt it to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's idea of a "Real Armenia," writes the newspaper "Graparak."
According to the publication, it is planned to exclude mentions of national goals from the oath text.
Until now, deputies have taken the following oath: "In the name of realizing national goals, strengthening and prospering the homeland, I swear to conscientiously fulfill my obligations to the people, observe the Constitution and laws of Armenia, promote the preservation of the sovereignty and interests of the country, do everything to preserve civil accord, national and universal values."
The draft, authored by Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan, deputies Arusyak Julhakyan and Asmik Akopyan, proposes to exclude the formulations "in the name of realizing national goals" and "to preserve national and universal values."
Instead, the oath will include an obligation to do everything to ensure the security and protect the freedoms of Armenian citizens.
In addition, the text is proposed to end with one of the most famous post-war formulas of Nikol Pashinyan: "Glory to the fallen heroes, and long live the Republic of Armenia!"
