The telephone conversation between President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and U.S. President Donald Trump, which took place on August 8, lasted more than 40 minutes.

As 1news.az learned from reliable sources, the call took place at the initiative of Donald Trump and was timed to coincide with the first anniversary of the Washington peace summit held on August 8, 2025.

According to available information, the conversation between the leaders of Azerbaijan and the United States took place in a friendly and warm atmosphere.

As the official website of the President of Azerbaijan reported earlier, during the conversation Ilham Aliyev and Donald Trump discussed the results of the year that has passed since the Washington summit, the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the implementation of the TRIPP project, as well as the development of the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and the United States.

It was particularly noted that over the past year peace and stability have been maintained in the region and there have been no incidents capable of damaging the peace process.

The parties also gave a positive assessment of the export of Azerbaijani oil products to Armenia, the transit of cargo through the territory of Azerbaijan, and the beginning of trade ties between the two countries.
