MES calls on vacationers to observe safety rules near water bodies
The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan has called on citizens heading to water bodies in conditions of extreme heat to strictly observe safety rules.
The department noted that currently hot weather is observed across the country, including in Baku and on the Absheron Peninsula, which is expected to continue on Sunday as well.
"In such weather, especially on weekends, citizens are massively heading to water bodies for recreation. However, unfortunately, non-compliance by some citizens with the relevant safety rules ultimately leads to tragic consequences," the appeal states.
The MES reminded that it is prohibited to swim in places not intended for this, including in canals, rivers, irrigation ditches and other water bodies, as well as to swim beyond the designated boundaries of the swimming area.
In addition, it is prohibited to enter the beach area on boats and small vessels, with the exception of rescue equipment.
The department called on people not to leave children on beaches unattended, to strictly observe the requirements of warning signs and information boards, and to unconditionally follow the instructions of rescuers.
