In 2025, the combined GDP of the member and observer countries of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) exceeded 2.4 trillion US dollars, and trade turnover reached 1.27 trillion dollars.

These figures clearly demonstrate the growing economic weight and strategic importance of the Turkic world in the global economy.

This was stated by OTS Deputy Secretary General Merey Mukazhan at the Forum on Competition of Heads of Competition Authorities of the Organization of Turkic States held in Shusha.

Emphasizing the need to further expand trade and economic ties between OTS countries, Merey Mukazhan said that strengthening economic cooperation is important not only for regional well-being, but also for enabling Turkic states to compete more effectively in the global economy and strengthen their positions on the international arena. “Therefore, the OTS Secretariat pays special attention to developing practical mechanisms in nearly 60 areas that can accelerate economic integration, strengthen interconnectedness and increase the collective competitiveness of member states. These platforms cover a wide range — from cartography to the space sector,” he added.

Merey Mukazhan particularly noted the role of competition authorities. He stressed that effective competition policy contributes to the formation of fair, transparent and dynamic markets that stimulate innovation, increase productivity, attract investment and protect consumer interests.

“As integration and digitalization of our economies deepen, cooperation between competition authorities will become increasingly important for addressing common challenges and building a more sustainable and competitive economic space for the Turkic world,” he noted.
