In France, the number of deaths resulting from drownings amid the ongoing abnormal heat continues to rise.

According to the latest data, since the beginning of the period of extremely high temperatures, 55 people have already become victims of such incidents.

This was reported by French Sports Minister Marina Ferrari, noting that the authorities do not rule out a further increase in the number of deaths.

At the same time, the French healthcare system is experiencing serious strain due to the consequences of the hot weather. According to the head of the emergency department at Pompidou Hospital, Philippe Juven, the number of emergency calls in the capital region has increased significantly in recent days.

He noted that medical services are operating at the limit of their capabilities, and some patients die before arriving at hospitals.

“People are dying before they can reach the hospital. Even emergency departments are struggling to cope with the large influx of patients,” Juven emphasized.

Meanwhile, a high level of weather danger continues to be in effect in France. On Friday, a red level was declared in 61 departments of the country after a week of abnormal heat that covered almost the entire mainland part of France.

According to the forecast of the national meteorological service Météo-France, on Saturday the highest level of danger will remain in 37 departments. French authorities continue to urge the population to take precautions, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and closely monitor their health in conditions of extremely high temperatures.
