Russian ambassador to Baku summoned to Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry
Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mikhail Evdokimov was summoned to the Foreign Ministry of the republic, the press service of the Azerbaijani foreign ministry reported.
During the meeting, a strong protest was expressed in connection with the fact that on the evening of July 5, a SOCAR gas station located in the Mykolaiv region of Ukraine was attacked by drones, and a corresponding note was handed over to the Russian side.
At the meeting, the Russian side was reminded that this drone attack is not the first case, and that previously facilities belonging to SOCAR in Ukraine, including a gas distribution compressor station and an oil depot in Odessa, were also subjected to military strikes and other destructive effects of military operations, as a result of which significant material damage was caused and there were wounded among the company's employees.
It was stated that the continuation of such cases, despite repeated warnings, indicates the deliberate nature of these attacks.
The meeting also drew attention to several air strikes that damaged the buildings of the Azerbaijani embassy in Kyiv and the honorary consulate in Kharkiv, and emphasized the importance of strict compliance with obligations to protect the buildings of diplomatic and consular missions in accordance with the Vienna Conventions.
The Russian side was called upon to conduct a comprehensive investigation into all the above facts, provide appropriate explanations regarding the incidents that occurred, and also comply with international obligations to protect civilian objects and diplomatic missions.
