Russia closes entry for strawberries from Armenia

The export of strawberries from Armenia to Russia has been banned; drivers were turned away from the Bagratashen border checkpoint (on the Armenian-Georgian border), preventing them from reaching Lars.

This was reported on social networks by deputy Garnik Danielyan, Armenian media report.

"Additional concerns are also raised by the upcoming export of cherries: farmers fear that similar restrictions may be introduced for this product as well. The situation is directly related to the deterioration of Armenian-Russian relations. A significant part of Armenian agricultural products is sold precisely on the Russian market and the markets of the EAEU, therefore, steps and statements that could harm bilateral relations are unacceptable," he stated.
