Iran announces retaliatory strike on U.S. bases in the Middle East

The IRGC struck American military bases in the Middle East region in response to U.S. attacks on Iran.

The central headquarters "Khatam al-Anbiya" of the Iranian Armed Forces stated this.

"In response to the U.S. Army's invasion of the southern parts of our country under the pretext of responding to the destruction of a helicopter, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps struck some U.S. bases in the region," the agency Mehr quoted a fragment of the headquarters' statement.

Earlier, Axios journalist Barak Ravid reported on X, citing a U.S. representative, that Iran had fired at least four ballistic missiles and several UAVs at American bases in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan.

At the same time, the Reuters news agency, citing a U.S. administration representative, reported that American armed forces had intercepted almost all missiles and UAVs fired by Iran. According to the representative, the results of a preliminary assessment indicate that almost all ballistic missiles and drones fired by Iran at American bases were intercepted.

Earlier, the U.S. Central Command reported striking Iran after an American Apache helicopter was shot down over the Strait of Hormuz.
