Mikael Jabbarov and Muhammad Al-Jasser assess readiness for annual meetings IsDB in Baku
Azerbaijan completes preparations for the annual meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB), which will be held in Baku from June 16 to 19 under the motto "Regional integration for sustainable prosperity."
As Report reports citing the organizers, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy and Chairman of the IsDB Board of Governors Mikael Jabbarov, together with Islamic Development Bank Group Chairman Muhammad Al-Jasser, visited the Baku Congress Center, where they reviewed the final stages of preparatory work. During the visit they met with members of the organizing committee and assessed the venue’s readiness to host delegates from the bank’s 57 member states.
The annual meetings are expected to bring together ministers of finance, economy, international development and planning, as well as representatives of international financial institutions, partner organizations and the private sector. Participants will discuss priority areas of cooperation and ways to address key socio-economic challenges facing IsDB member countries.
The forum program includes meetings of the Board of Governors, a governors’ dialogue, a fireside chat with the IsDB Group Chairman, the IsDB Private Sector Forum, the Multilateral Development Banks Business Opportunities Forum, a private-sector session of the Arab Coordination Group, and a series of round tables, exhibitions and experience-sharing events.
Discussions will focus on Islamic finance, trade and transport connectivity, youth employment, climate-change resilience, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, development of the sukuk market, innovation, health security and improvement of social-protection systems.
Azerbaijan is hosting the IsDB Group annual meetings for the second time, which organizers say reflects the high level of cooperation between the republic and IsDB as well as the parties’ commitment to strengthening regional integration and sustainable development.
