Didn't have time to celebrate: Lamine Yamal's house targeted in robbery attempt after Spain reaches final

Spain national team's advancement to the 2026 World Cup final was overshadowed by an attempted robbery at the home of Barcelona striker Lamine Yamal, reports Diario Ara.

The incident occurred around four o'clock in the morning local time in the upscale suburb of Esplugues de Llobregat. The criminals attempted to enter the grounds of the mansion just a few hours after the Spanish national team defeated France in the semifinal of the 2026 World Cup.

The robbery was prevented thanks to the vigilance of private security. The on-duty guard noticed two men on surveillance cameras trying to climb over the fence in time. Realizing they had been detected, the would-be robbers quickly fled the scene before police arrived and never managed to enter the residential house.

Patrols of the Catalan police (Mossos d'Esquadra) arrived at the scene, and the criminal investigation department is currently handling the incident. Investigators recorded similar break-in attempts at other houses the same night, so police are now determining whether Yamal's mansion was a specific target of the intruders or whether they were acting randomly.
