Russian foreign ministry: Moscow considers Bayramov visit as continuation of dialogue
Moscow considers the upcoming visit of Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in the context of continuing a trusting dialogue and further expanding cooperation, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.
"We view the upcoming visit of Jeyhun Bayramov in the context of continuing a trusting Russian-Azerbaijani political dialogue and further expanding mutually beneficial cooperation," the ministry's commentary on its website states.
On July 16-17, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov will pay an official visit to Russia. His meeting and talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov are planned.
The state and prospects of bilateral cooperation are to be discussed, as well as an exchange of views on the most relevant aspects of the regional and international agenda.
"Azerbaijan is an important partner of Russia in the South Caucasus and the Caspian region. Relations between our countries are progressively developing in the spirit of the traditions of friendship and good-neighborliness. Day-to-day joint work is built on the principles of equality, mutual respect and consideration of each other's interests," the commentary states.
The regional cooperation Platform "3+3," uniting Russia, Iran, Turkey and Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, has substantial potential. This mechanism is designed to facilitate the resolution of any regional issues and challenges by the countries of the region and their neighbors themselves without destructive external interference, the Russian Foreign Ministry notes.
"Peace and stability in the South Caucasus are important to us. As before, we are ready to provide the requested assistance in the full normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, including on issues of concluding a peace treaty, border delimitation, and unblocking communications. The 'road maps' of these processes are contained in the trilateral statements signed at the highest level in 2020-2022," the statement says.
