Trump's bodyguard turns out to be cause of US-China dispute
The press pool of White House leader Donald Trump was delayed due to a dispute over the presence of a weapon with a US Secret Service agent.
The New York Times (NYT) reported this.
“The press pool of the American president was delayed for almost 30 minutes after Chinese security officials refused to allow a Secret Service agent, who was accompanying journalists, onto the territory of the Temple of Heaven with a weapon,” the publication says.
According to the publication, after tense negotiations between officials of the People's Republic of China and the United States, a compromise was reached.
Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks on May 14, which took place behind closed doors. The leaders of the two countries discussed issues related to Taiwan, trade and other disagreements in US-China relations. This was the first trip by the American politician to Beijing since his first presidential term in 2017.
