Erdogan calls agreement on transporting Kazakh oil through BTC important

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that Ankara attaches great importance to the agreement between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan on transporting Kazakh oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline.

Turkish leader made this statement to journalists during an informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States taking place in Turkestan.

Erdogan expressed confidence in further strengthening energy cooperation among Turkic states and noted that during the current visit to Kazakhstan, Turkish Petroleum reached an agreement with Kazakh partners on the development of oil and gas fields.

The president of Turkey also noted that this year's OTS summit will be held in Turkey.

According to Erdogan, it is extremely important today to achieve greater progress in all areas, especially in diplomacy, energy, trade, transport, security and defense.

"Just as our ancestors strengthened the power of the Turkic world by ensuring justice, so we, as strong and sovereign states, can achieve our goals," he stressed.

The Turkish leader also commented on the NATO summit to be held in Ankara in July. According to him, the world is changing rapidly, threats are becoming more complex, and the international legal system is weakening.

"Fair burden-sharing within NATO and a common vision on security issues are crucial for the future of the alliance," Erdogan said.

Commenting on regional tensions, he stressed the importance of long-term stability and called on states to be guided by the interests of their citizens rather than the influence of external forces or international corporations.
