A number of Asian countries strengthen sanitary measures due to Ebola fever outbreak

Several Southeast Asian countries have begun introducing additional measures to ensure sanitary control upon entry into their territory due to the Ebola fever outbreak in Africa, EFE agency reported on Tuesday.

In Thailand, health service employees will check the health status of arrivals from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Uganda and other countries and areas declared a high-risk zone for the spread of Ebola in the coming weeks. In addition, Thai hospitals have been instructed to thoroughly check suspicious cases of patient illness, as well as prepare wards for their isolation, as well as special protective suits and equipment for employees.

Indonesia's Ministry of Health reported that Jakarta is stepping up coordination with colleagues from other countries due to the fever. Indonesia has also introduced enhanced control at entries into the country, particularly at airports.

Vietnamese health services have taken similar measures.

It was previously reported that the United States is introducing additional measures for travelers who have visited Uganda, the DRC and South Sudan in connection with the Ebola fever outbreak in these countries.
