Armenia does not expect mass migration from the country in case of visa regime liberalization with the EU
All talks about the risk of emigration of Armenian citizens to the European Union in case of liberalization of the visa regime with the EU have no grounds, stated Minister of Internal Affairs of the republic Arpine Sarkisyan.
Having noted this, she referred to the positive difference between citizens who left Armenia and those who entered it based on the results of 2025.
"In 2016, 7795 Armenian citizens applied for asylum in the European Union, and in 2024 - 5130 Armenian citizens, in 2025 - 3535," noted Sarkisyan.
According to the minister, Armenia is getting closer every day to liberalizing the visa regime with the European Union. At the same time, Sarkisyan found it difficult to name the timing for the introduction of this new regime, expressing hope for fulfilling the necessary requirements of the European Union for this within two to three years.
