Erdogan discusses regional issues with Trump

President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a telephone conversation with his US counterpart Donald Trump.

This is stated in a message from the Communications Directorate under the Administration of the President of Turkey.

President Erdogan noted that Turkey considers the extension of the ceasefire regime in the regional conflict a positive development and will continue to support constructive initiatives. The Turkish leader expressed confidence in the possibility of resolving the parties' differences on the basis of a reasonable approach.

The head of state emphasized that establishing stability in Syria will be an important achievement for the entire region. At the same time, he stressed that Turkey will continue its unwavering support for Syria. He also pointed out the need to prevent the situation in Lebanon from worsening.

President Erdogan also noted that preparations for the upcoming NATO summit in Ankara are ongoing. According to him, all necessary efforts are being made to ensure that it is successful in all respects.

President of Turkey expressed condolences to his colleague in connection with the "monstrous attack" committed the day before on a mosque in the American city of San Diego. The head of the Turkish state emphasized that Ankara resolutely opposes any hate crimes, regardless of which religious community they are directed against.
