Media: Trump’s inner circle pushes him toward agreement with Tehran
The inner circle of U.S. President Donald Trump is exerting pressure on him to reach an agreement with Iran, Israeli television claims.
As Israeli Channel 13 reports, despite diplomatic efforts to conclude an agreement between the United States and Iran, the prevailing view in Tel Aviv is that Trump is inclined to resume attacks.
According to the channel, after the U.S. president stated that he is not in a hurry to make decisions on Iran, some Persian Gulf countries as well as his inner circle began pushing him toward reaching a deal with Tehran.
A senior Israeli official who wished to remain anonymous told the channel that a stable agreement between Washington and Tehran is possible only if Trump makes concessions. At the same time, according to the official, the option of striking Iran remains on the agenda.
The source noted that Trump will make a decision regarding attacks on Iran “in the coming days” and that the development of the current crisis will become clear soon.
According to the report, contrary to previous expectations, the prevailing view in Tel Aviv is that Trump may reconsider the military scenario. Against this backdrop, the Israeli army has been placed on maximum combat readiness.
Earlier, Israeli media reported that U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a “rather long and dramatic” telephone conversation on the Iranian issue on the evening of May 19.
It was claimed that the conversation took place against the backdrop of a possible scenario of U.S. strikes on Iran, and that both leaders were likely “on the verge of making a decision.”
Israeli state broadcaster KAN also claimed that the armies of Israel and the United States had completed joint preparations for resuming attacks on Iran.
Media also reported that the United States and Israel had conducted intensive preparations for possible attacks over the course of a week.
