Media: Pakistan army chief cancels trip to Iran

Pakistan Army Chief of Staff Asim Munir will not make the previously planned visit to Iran.

Al Arabiya reports this, citing unnamed sources.

According to the publication, the reasons for canceling the trip are not officially disclosed, and the details of the decision remain unknown for now.

Iranian journalist Ali Golhaki, affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), stated that postponing the visit after a 24-hour wait may have political significance. According to him, against the backdrop of the situation surrounding negotiations on the nuclear program, the United States insists on resolving the issue through negotiations with enhanced oversight of Iranian nuclear activities and possible closure of the case.

At the same time, he noted that Iran, according to his claims, allows negotiations on the nuclear program only on the condition of a 30-day confidence-building process, which should include ending the conflict and lifting the maritime blockade.

He also added that, despite recognizing Iran's role in the Persian Gulf region, the United States is allegedly not ready to agree with the idea of Tehran charging fees for the passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.

It was previously reported that Asim Munir was supposed to travel to Tehran with a message for the Iranian authorities related to a possible negotiation process on the situation in the Persian Gulf region.
