Vucic announces possible resignation
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic said that he may resign in connection with the approaching end of his term.
The statement by the Serbian leader was made during his visit to China.
"Possibly, I will resign soon," N1 channel quotes the president as saying.
Vucic was first elected president of Serbia in 2017. In 2022, he was re-elected for a second term. His presidential term expires in 2027.
On May 21, Vucic announced that parliamentary elections will be held in the fall, between the end of September and mid-November. Speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia Ana Brnabic said that the ruling Serbian Progressive Party will offer Vucic to become its candidate for prime minister in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
