Russia and Belarus prevent attempt to import large batch of explosives — FSB

The Federal Security Service FSB of Russia, together with the State Security Committee KGB of Belarus, thwarted an attempt to import more than 500 explosive devices into Russia at the beginning of 2026, which, according to the intelligence services, were intended for preparing terrorist attacks.

FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov reported this, whose words are cited by RIA Novosti.

According to him, the operation carried out demonstrates the scale of threats that, as Russian intelligence services claim, come from Ukraine.

Bortnikov also reported that at the beginning of the year, the FSB, together with colleagues from Uzbekistan, prevented five terrorist attacks in a number of Russian regions, including Moscow.

He noted that, according to intelligence data, covert terrorist networks are being formed on the territory of the CIS countries, as well as channels for their financing, logistics, and preparation of possible attacks.
