Zakharova: Armenia is like a passenger who wants to get to 'point G'

Official Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova ironically compared the Armenian authorities, who seek to join the European Union while remaining a member of the EAEU, to a passenger who wants to get from point "A" to point "G."

"Imagine an airport, a waiting area, a transfer, a connecting flight. Several passengers who have gone through all kinds of screenings, the border, control, and so on. Each and every one of them is law-abiding and has certain goals and objectives. And then, when boarding is announced, suddenly one of the passengers, who seemed to be booked on this flight, says, you know, I'm not going to point BTB, I'm going to point... yes, probably even closer to point G," Zakharova said on Sputnik radio.

Speaking about Armenia's desire to join the EU while remaining in the EAEU, Zakharova noted that this is "not even an attempt to sit on two chairs anymore."

"It is abnormal when manipulation takes place. When good intentions and legality, which ensure the normal functioning of a certain sphere, are used for unscrupulous purposes. That is what is abnormal. If you want to go to point G via point B, that is also possible. It is called transit. But it has its own logistics. When you check in for point B, you fly, you get off there, say goodbye to everyone, and go where you need to. That was an open choice. But it was made. You want to change your choice? Please. There is a civilized way to do that," she explained.
