Vance notes limited US capabilities to support Ukraine

American Vice President J.D. Vance believes that even the most ardent supporters of Kyiv now acknowledge the limited US capabilities to provide assistance to Ukraine.

This is stated in his new book "Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith," which went on sale in the US on June 15.

Vance noted that during his participation in the Munich Security Conference in 2024, the US leadership's attitude toward the conflict was as follows: "To acknowledge that the capabilities of the United States to assist Ukraine were limited, as even the most ardent supporters of Ukraine acknowledge today, to acknowledge that America could not single-handedly close the gap in firepower between Ukraine and Russia, to acknowledge that our country could not unilaterally control the course of any conflict at its discretion — would mean acknowledging that the cause of their entire life had failed."

Vance, who was a US senator at the time, emphasized that he considered "US resources to be much more limited" than other American legislators "were willing to acknowledge."
