Authorities preparing for change of president of Armenia? Media name possible contenders

Several representatives of the ruling party "Civil Contract" are vying for the post of president of Armenia at once.

The newspaper "Graparak" writes about this.

According to the publication, political circles are discussing the health condition of incumbent President Vahagn Khachaturyan. It is possible that he may leave his post before the end of his term in 2029.

Recall that Khachaturyan was elected president in 2022 for a seven-year term.

As the newspaper notes, against the backdrop of these conversations, potential contenders for the post of head of state have already emerged. Among them are mentioned head of the government apparatus Arayik Harutyunyan, parliament speaker Alen Simonyan, and foreign minister Ararat Mirzoyan.

According to the publication, Arayik Harutyunyan's candidacy was also considered during the previous presidential elections, but at that time it did not receive support within the ruling team.
