Egypt national team secures first victory in World Cup history - video

Egypt's national team defeated New Zealand's national team in the match of the 2nd round of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup with a score of 3:1.

Thus, Hossam Hassan's charges secured the first victory in history at the world championships.

Previously, the Egypt national team participated in three World Cups and had no victories. In total, the "pharaohs" now have nine games at world championships — one win, three draws, and five losses.

The group stage will last from June 11 to 27. The teams play in one round — each will play three matches. The two best teams from each group, as well as eight teams that took third places, will advance to the playoffs.
