Rescuers were able to extract 23 people from under the rubble of buildings destroyed as a result of the earthquake in the Chacao municipality of Caracas.

This was reported by CNN, citing the mayor of the municipality, Gustavo Duque.

According to him, 23 people were rescued. "Fortunately, we hear that people are alive, and we will save them. <...> We will not leave here until we save the last person we can save, and I know that with God's help we will succeed," the channel quotes him as saying. According to Gustavo Duque, the rescued are receiving medical assistance.

The earthquake in Venezuela occurred on the evening of June 24. With a difference of about 40 seconds, two series of tremors with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 were recorded. Their epicenters were located 10 km apart in the Venezuelan state of Yaracuy. According to the president's authorized representative of the country Delcy Rodriguez, at least 32 people died and another 700 were injured. Dozens of buildings were destroyed. The Venezuelan authorities introduced a state of emergency. The country's government declared the coastal state of La Guaira a disaster zone.
