Videos of the arrest in Armenia of oligarch and leader of the opposition party "Prosperous Armenia" Gagik Tsarukyan have been spread.
Yerevan court arrested Tsarukyan for two months. He is accused of fraud and money laundering on an especially large scale, reports Armenia Today.
Tsarukyan was detained on July 6 in Yerevan. On the same day, searches were conducted in his home and dozens of companies belonging to him.
According to the Investigative Committee of Armenia, in 2022-2024 Gagik Tsarukyan together with accomplices organized a fraudulent scheme for the import of goods and fuel from Iran. According to the IC, about $21.7 million was stolen.
The money received was legalized.
Tsarukyan himself calls the accusation "completely fabricated."
