Opening of 'House of Sadigjan' after restoration held in Shusha
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on July 11 took part in the opening in Shusha after restoration of the historical and architectural monument "House of Sadigjan."
As AZERTAC reports, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Shusha district Aydin Kerimov informed the head of state about the work done.
It was noted that during the occupation of the city of Shusha the building had long been in a neglected state, as a result of which the roof, floors and stone masonry had suffered serious deformations and destructions. Some architectural elements of the structure were damaged, and the engineering and communication systems had completely become unfit for use.
According to the Order of the President of Azerbaijan of 2022, funds were allocated for the design and restoration of the house where Mirza Asad oglu Sadig – Sadigjan – the Azerbaijani musician, tar player, composer and master who improved the tar, lived.
In 2022 President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva inspected in the city of Shusha the house where Sadigjan lived. A year later the head of state familiarized himself with the concept of the project of the planned works here, and in 2024 the restoration of this historical and architectural monument began.
The two-story Sadigjan house-museum is located on Sadigjan Street in the city of Shusha. Arched windows and the design of the entrance portal with relatively large stones give the building a special architectural expressiveness.
The Sadigjan house-museum is included in the list of historical and architectural monuments of republican significance.
The house-museum has exhibition halls dedicated to the life and work of Sadigjan, Azerbaijani national musical heritage and the rich literary and artistic environment of the city of Shusha, a concert hall, a mugham exposition hall, as well as a cafe, a souvenir shop, a registration department and a workshop for the manufacture of musical instruments.
The head of state was informed about the work "Voice of Eternity."
It was noted that this sculptural work represents a symbolic artistic interpretation of the national musical instrument of Azerbaijan – the tar. In the composition the image of a tree born from the strings of the tar symbolizes that music originates in the native land, is nourished by the power of national memory and is again embodied in life. The shape of the tree personifies roots, continuity and the idea of revival.
The work is dedicated to the rich cultural heritage of the city of Shusha, which is considered the cradle of the musical art of Azerbaijan.
Here music is presented not only as sound, but also as a carrier of national identity, soul and historical memory.
The author of the sculptural composition is Honored Artist Rashad Mehdiyev.
