Ilham Aliyev expresses condolences to emir of Qatar
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev sent a letter of condolences to the Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The letter states:
"Your Majesty,
With a feeling of deep sorrow we received the news of the passing of your father – the outstanding statesman, the Father Emir, His Majesty Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani was a great leader of his people who left an indelible mark on the history of the State of Qatar and through his entire life and activities demonstrated an example of boundless devotion to the Motherland and selflessly worked for its well-being.
He had exceptional merits in the establishment and development of friendly relations and cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the State of Qatar. With the most pleasant impressions I recall his visits to Azerbaijan and my meetings with him. The bright memory of the Father Emir, His Majesty Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani will forever live in our hearts.
Sharing your grief in connection with this heavy loss, on my behalf and on behalf of the people of Azerbaijan I express deep condolences to you, all members of your family, and the brotherly people of the State of Qatar.
May Allah have mercy on him!"
