Lavrov: Moscow and Baku move toward fully unlocking potential of allied interaction

Russia and Azerbaijan are moving toward fully unlocking the potential of allied interaction signed in February 2022.

As Report reports, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated this during a meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in an expanded format on Friday in Moscow.

"We are pleased with the opportunity to continue our dialogue at the level of the heads of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs. It reinforces regular contacts between the presidents of the two countries and along the lines of governments, ministries, departments, and parliaments. All this demonstrates that, despite periodically arising difficulties of one kind or another, which are inevitable in life, we are moving toward fully unlocking the potential of the Moscow declaration on allied interaction, which we signed on February 22, 2022," Lavrov said.

According to him, this year the parties resolved all issues related to the common tragedy (the crash of the AZAL plane - ed.).

"Today we will discuss the current state and prospects of our cooperation, including in the economic sphere. Quite recently, in April, the 24th meeting of the intergovernmental commission took place. Of course, we will talk about the situation in the South Caucasus. We noted the growing interest in the regional cooperation platform '3+3.' So I am counting on productive negotiations today," he noted.

Lavrov emphasized that the humanitarian sphere has traditionally been an important element of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation.

"We are ready to discuss the entire range of issues on the regional and international agenda of mutual interest, including our contacts and cooperation on international platforms," added the Russian foreign minister.
