IRGC: two tankers exploded in the Strait of Hormuz due to US provocation

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that two tankers that violated navigation rules exploded in the Strait of Hormuz.

This is reported by the Tasnim agency in its Telegram channel.

According to the IRGC, the vessels intended to pass along an unsafe route in the southern part of the strait, which they were provoked and forced to do by American military forces. As a result of the explosion, the tankers were unable to continue moving.

The IRGC statement emphasizes that the intervention of the US army, located thousands of kilometers away, has no legal force. Iran promised to respond to these actions. As long as American crimes in the region continue, the route is not safe for the passage of vessels with chemicals, oil, and gas, the Corps warned.

"An aggressive army must be prepared for retaliatory measures for this illegal violation," the message says.

American forces have been striking Iran for the ninth night in a row. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that the strikes are aimed at weakening Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

The IRGC threatened the US and Middle Eastern countries providing their bases to Washington with "extremely severe retribution" in case of continued attacks on Iran's civilian infrastructure.
