US imposes 50% import duties on Canadian goods
US President Donald Trump has imposed additional import duties of 50% on Canadian products.
This is stated in a statement posted on July 20 on the White House website.
As follows from the document, additional duties were introduced "as a response to Canada's discriminatory actions against American products." It emphasizes that duties are imposed on a wide range of products, "from wine to hockey sticks and cement." At the same time, energy resources, potash, as well as seafood and critical minerals will not be subject to the new duties.
The duties will take effect 30 days after the decree is signed by the head of the US administration.
