Ursula von der Leyen on the content of the new package of anti-Russian sanctions

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen welcomed the approval by EU ambassadors of the 21st package of anti-Russian sanctions.

“I welcome the agreement on the 21st package of sanctions against Russia. At a time when Ukraine has increased its military initiative, our sanctions continue to undermine the economic foundations of Russia's military efforts,” wrote von der Leyen on her page on the social network X.

“We are adding another 32 Russian banks to our list of transaction bans, as well as cryptocurrency companies and oil trading platforms.

We are freezing the adjustment of the oil price cap for one year so that the Russian war machine does not benefit from market shocks.

For the first time, vessels assisting Russia's 'shadow fleet' are subject to our restrictions.

In addition, we have taken an important step toward an official ban on entry into the EU for Russian combatants,” the European Commission president noted in her post.
