President of Slovenia broke her collarbone in a car accident

Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar said that she broke her collarbone as a result of a traffic accident that occurred on July 31.

At the moment of the collision, she was not wearing a seat belt.

"That was my main mistake, and I sincerely regret it. I was not buckled up and I fully acknowledge my responsibility. The price I paid for it was a broken collarbone," Pirc Musar said on air on Radio and Television of Slovenia.

The president shared some details of the accident. She said that she was sitting in the back and did not see everything that was happening inside the tunnel. "First there was a collision with another car, and then we were thrown against the wall of the tunnel. It was probably at that moment that all the injuries were sustained," she said. After the incident, she was taken to the hospital in the city of Izola, where the necessary examinations were carried out. According to her, no surgical intervention was required. She now "feels fine," and "rehabilitation will take from four to six weeks."

Pirc Musar was involved in the accident while returning from vacation. Two cars from her motorcade collided on the highway in the Kastelec tunnel, as a result of which two people were injured, including the president. There is no information about the condition of the second injured person; the investigation is ongoing.
