Media: Aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln arrives in Thailand after 8 months

The American aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln has arrived in Thailand to make its first port call in more than eight months of combat duty.

The ship is putting in at the port of Pattaya near an American military base.

The newspaper Military Times previously reported that several service members aboard the Abraham Lincoln had attempted to take their own lives. Among the reasons cited for the sailors' emotional instability were excessive workload, exhaustion, and a feeling of being overwhelmed. The MS Now television channel reported that the carrier's prolonged deployment had led to problems with air conditioners, hot water, and toilets, and could also have affected the serviceability of the equipment for launching and landing aircraft.
