Armenian government publishes 74-page report on crisis surrounding the Armenian Church
The government of Armenia has released a comprehensive 74-page report devoted to the confrontation between the authorities and the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC).
The document, titled "On the Crisis That Has Arisen in the Church as a Result of the Activities of the De Facto Head of the AAC and a Number of High-Ranking Clergymen, and Ways to Resolve It," was published a month after a corresponding promise by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Armenian media report.
The report was prepared on the instructions of the head of the cabinet by the state non-commercial organization "Center for Public Relations and Information." The document is based on the provisions of the Armenian government's program for 2026–2031.
Speaking earlier in parliament, Nikol Pashinyan announced not only the publication of this report, but also an initiative to create a special parliamentary commission of inquiry. The commission is expected to examine the facts presented in the report and form a basis for subsequent legislative changes regulating relations between the state and the church.
