Trump says he is not rushing Iran on a deal

Washington is not rushing Tehran to conclude a deal, and there are no clear timeframes regarding a ceasefire regime or agreeing on a new date for negotiations with Iran, U.S. President Donald Trump has stated.

"There is no pressure regarding timelines for this," Trump said in an interview with Fox News.

According to him, reports of a "three-to-five-day window" are "false."

"People say I want to finish this quickly (the conflict - IF) because of the midterm elections (to the U.S. Congress - IF) - that’s not true," Trump added, explaining that the American administration wants to "make a deal that is beneficial for the American people."

The U.S. President believes that the American naval blockade of Iranian ports "scares" Iranians "even more than bombings."

"They’ve been bombed for years, but they hate the blockade," Trump noted.

In addition, during the interview, he described Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi as a smart person and noted that he expects "he will still be that way when negotiations resume."

Earlier, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that the deadlines for a truce with Iran are not rigid and will ultimately be set by Trump.

"The President has not set rigid deadlines for receiving an Iranian proposal. The timelines will be dictated by the Commander-in-Chief and the President of the United States," she told reporters on Wednesday.
