EU adopts 20th sanctions package against Russia

The countries of the European Union have adopted the 20th sanctions package against Russia, announced the President of the European Council, António Costa.

The European Commission had planned to adopt this package on February 23, 2026, but Hungary blocked the decision until the operation of the Druzhba oil pipeline was resumed.

"Today, we have made progress on both fronts: the 20th sanctions package against Russia has been adopted, aimed at reducing its ability to wage war," Costa wrote in his blog.
