Secret Service would prefer to hold events with Trump only at the White House
The Director of the U.S. Secret Service, responsible for the protection of the country's top officials, Shawn Curran, admitted that he would prefer to hold events involving American leader Donald Trump exclusively at the White House.
In an interview on Fox News, Curran was asked to comment on the shooting at the Washington Hilton hotel during a reception attended by Trump. The Secret Service Director was asked whether it would be easier to ensure the security of such events if they were held in locations that are inherently well-protected.
"I always prefer the White House; it is a place that is under our full control. Additionally, choosing locations [outside the White House] requires [restricting] traffic movement and also impacts public life, and there are budgetary considerations as well," Curran said.
