Kaja Kallas comments on Armenia's prospects for joining the EU
Head of EU diplomacy Kaja Kallas expressed her stance on Armenia's prospects for joining the European Union.
«Of course, the European perspective is on the table, and Armenia will decide for itself,» Kallas said during a briefing on the sidelines of the EPC summit in Yerevan.
On April 1, talks were held in Moscow between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Russian President Vladimir Putin. During the meeting, Putin stated that Moscow is aware of the discussions in Yerevan regarding relations with the EU and views them calmly. At the same time, the Russian leader openly said that Yerevan's simultaneous membership in the EU and the EAEU is impossible. In turn, Pashinyan noted that Yerevan understands that membership in the EAEU is incompatible with EU membership, but these processes have not yet reached the point where a choice must be made.
