Al-Arabiyya: Phased opening of the Strait of Hormuz under discussion
The United States and Iran are considering the possibility of a preliminary agreement, under which the easing of restrictions on the naval blockade could be exchanged for a phased opening of the strait.
This was reported by the Al Arabiya channel, noting that 'intensive diplomatic negotiations' are underway regarding the resumption of operations in the Strait of Hormuz. Progress on the situation with vessels left stranded is expected in the coming hours.
It is noted that the news came a day after Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked U.S. President Donald Trump for suspending the 'Freedom Project' operation.
It is also reported that Iran 'is ready to consider the issue of opening the strait within the framework of negotiations to end the conflict.'
