The UK Ministry of Defense announced that to ensure security in the Strait of Hormuz and protect the interests of Britain and its allies in the region, in addition to a warship, drone countermeasures systems and Eurofighter Typhoon fighters will be sent to the area.

The UK Ministry of Defense statement noted that an online meeting chaired by Britain and France, attended by defense ministers from more than 40 countries, discussed the security of the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the information, to ensure the security of the strait and protect the interests of Britain and its allies in the region, the HMS Dragon warship currently in the eastern Mediterranean is being sent to the area, and in addition to this ship, combat aircraft, mine-clearing drones and advanced drone countermeasures systems will also be dispatched to the region.

Among the systems Britain will send to the region will be mine-clearing specialists.

Funding of 115 million pounds sterling for mine-clearing and counter-drone systems

Defense Minister John Healey, whose comments are included in the statement, said: “Britain is playing a leading role in ensuring the security of the Strait of Hormuz. Today we are demonstrating this again by using advanced technology to protect our interests in the region.”
