FSB reports detention of Ryazan region resident in treason case

The Federal Security Service of Russia reported the detention in the Ryazan region of a Russian citizen suspected of transmitting data to Ukrainian military intelligence.

As stated by the Center for Public Relations of the FSB, the detainee born in 1985 was, according to the investigation, involved in intelligence activities in the interests of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

According to the special service, the man independently established contact with a representative of Ukrainian intelligence via the Telegram messenger. Since 2025, he allegedly collected and transmitted information about facilities of the Ministry of Defense of Russia, transport infrastructure, enterprises of the defense-industrial and fuel-energy complexes of the region, as well as about Russian servicemen who participated in combat operations.

A criminal case has been opened against the detainee under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Treason”).

The FSB also stated that Ukrainian special services actively use the internet, social networks, and messengers to involve Russian citizens in intelligence and sabotage activities.
