Record jackpot. Czech resident wins 120 million euros in lottery
A Czech resident has won €120 million in the lottery — this is the largest winnings sum in the history of the republic.
This was reported by the news portal Idnes.
The Eurojackpot lottery ticket purchased in the Czech Republic entitles its owner to 2.911 billion crowns (about €120 million).
The previous record win in the country was recorded in May 2015. In the same Eurojackpot, a resident of the country then won 2.47 billion crowns (approximately €100 million).
According to the law, the Eurojackpot organizer is obliged to transfer the entire winnings amount to the winner's bank account within 60 days from the date of the lottery draw, which took place on Tuesday. A tax of 15% of the winnings will go to the state treasury. This is 437 million crowns (about €18 million).
