Pashinyan: Armenia will continue work in the EAEU as long as possible

Armenia will continue working in the EAEU until the choice between the Union and the European Union becomes inevitable, after which a referendum will be held, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated.

"We are working and will continue to work in the EAEU as long as the choice between the EAEU and the EU is inevitable. The decision, naturally, must be made by the people of Armenia through a referendum," Pashinyan said in a live broadcast on his social media page.

According to him, the question of the timing of the referendum is essential.

"Until Armenia has officially applied to the EU on the issue of membership or is close to obtaining candidate status for membership, holding a referendum is illogical. Because there is no justification, no balance has been formed so that we can offer the people a choice - which path to take. Putting a theoretical choice to a referendum is wrong and unfounded," the Armenian prime minister stated.

"Therefore, we will calmly, without disputes, without nerves, continue to work in the EAEU. I am confident that in this direction we have potential that we will use," he added.
