Andrej Plenković: Croatia intends to increase defense spending until 2030
Croatia will continue the systematic increase of defense spending until 2030.
This was stated by Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković at the panel discussion "The Age of Multipolarity: Managing New Realities" within the framework of the Dubrovnik Forum.
The prime minister noted that the war Russia is waging in Ukraine has become a turning point that changed the security architecture of Europe and demonstrated the importance of systematically strengthening defense capabilities:
"Croatia has fulfilled the task of bringing defense spending to the level of 2% of GDP and will continue to systematically increase this indicator by 2030. This, in turn, thanks to stable economic growth and responsible management of public finances, creates fiscal opportunities for financing key priorities."
He also drew attention to the importance of strengthening Europe's defense industry and technological base:
"Croatia is developing its capabilities in this area, and more and more Croatian companies are successfully taking positions in the field of modern defense technologies and innovative solutions."
