Ankara calls Israel's decision to recognize 'Armenian genocide' politically motivated
Turkey's Foreign Ministry condemned Israel's decision to recognize the so-called "Armenian genocide," calling it politically motivated.
In a statement, Turkey's Foreign Ministry said that through the politically motivated decision on the events of 1915, the Israeli government is trying to "hide its own crimes" against the Palestinians.
The ministry recalled that Israel, which is accused of "systematic persecution" of Palestinians, is facing proceedings at the International Court of Justice on charges of genocide in Gaza.
Turkey's Foreign Ministry emphasized that Tel Aviv's actions "ignore legal and historical facts and are a consequence of the difficult situation in which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his accomplices find themselves, against whom arrest warrants have been issued as part of the International Criminal Court's investigation into crimes committed against Palestinians."
