Kaja Kallas to discuss Turkey's status as EU candidate country in Ankara
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos and EU Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner will visit Turkey on June 29-30.
This is stated in a message from the EU External Action Service (EEAS).
Meetings of the EU delegation members with Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan are planned.
It is noted that the visit will take place ahead of the NATO summit to be held in Ankara on July 7-8. "The visit will provide an opportunity to review relations between the EU and Turkey in the context of Turkey's status as a candidate country for EU membership and NATO ally, discuss common challenges that the parties have to face against the backdrop of an increasingly unstable geopolitical situation, and explore new ways of cooperation," the statement said.
This will be Kaja Kallas's second official visit to Turkey.
