Speaker of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan refuses deputy mandate

Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan stated that he will not take the deputy mandate.

He stated this at a briefing in the parliament.

He said that he wanted to continue his activities as speaker, but accepts the decision of the party board. According to him, he has no resentment, since he believes that work processes involve changes.

“I want to rest a little, it was a difficult working period for me. Do not forget that this was the parliament of the post-election period and there were many challenges that we went through with our colleagues,” noted Simonyan.

The speaker also stated that he intends to finally put his personal life in order. At the same time, he added that he did not discuss his further activities with the prime minister, and there are no agreements. However, he stated that he sees his political activities only as part of the “Civil Contract” and with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

“I do not see myself in any political process without Nikol Pashinyan,” he said.
