US State Department calls Pakistan's strikes on Afghanistan an act of self-defense

The United States considers the strikes by the Pakistani Armed Forces on the territory of Afghanistan justified as an act of self-defense.

This is stated in a statement by the US State Department.

"[Washington] supports Pakistan's right to self-defense in response to terrorist attacks. <...> The Pakistani people have suffered greatly at the hands of terrorists," a department spokesperson said, his words reported by Reuters.
